Did you ever wish you had a time machine, so you could step back into time?
Well, there’s a time portal right here in Cranford. And you can recognize it by the red and white pole outside the door.
The Cranford Barber Shop, at 16 North Avenue West, directly across from the train station, has been owned and operated by the Marsiglia family for 70 years. That’s right . . . . SEVENTY YEARS! Vince, Tony, Mike and Jerry have been providing shampoo, haircuts, and shaves for generations of Cranford residents. It’s the place where most Cranford boys probably got their first haircuts. And they wouldn’t have it any other way. They seem to know everyone in town, and everyone knows them. Sometimes men who don’t even need haircuts stop by to sit and chat. Stepping into this old-fashioned shop is like walking into an episode of Andy Griffith. It is the epitome of old fashioned hometown Americana.
The shop was renovated not too long ago, so it has a fresher, cleaner look, while maintaining its same old character. The sports are always playing on the TV, Italian music is always playing on the radio, and the lovable characters are always in full swing! The shop is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays, but you can stop in during the other 5 days of the week to enjoy a quality, low-cost haircut, and the unmatched “Cranford experience.” Seriously – it’s well worth it. And you can get a lollipop if you’re good.
