Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. C’mon, gents, what have you got planned for your valentines? Don’t get her chocolates – she’ll complain that you’re trying to make her fat. Don’t do the flowers thing – she’ll complain when she has to clean up the falling brown petals as they die. So what to do?
“The Perfect Valentine – A Night at the Movies’” will be performed by the Westfield, NJ Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, Feb. 17th at 4:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield. Featured will be memorable movie music from different film genres encompassing romance, epics, chillers, and thrillers. There will be music from “Gone with the Wind,” “West Side Story,” “Star Wars,” and “Jaws,” as well as many, many more. Maestro David Wroe conducts the more than 50 members of this orchestra as they stroll down memory lane paying tribute to Hollywood’s greatest movie themes. The amazing talent of Wroe and his musicians will have you humming old favorite tunes for days. It’s the perfect date night!
This performance is made possible through the generous support of the NJ State Council on the Arts and the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation. For tickets ($25-$75, students $12) and information go to www.westfieldsymphony.org or call 908-232- 9400.
Of course, if you ALSO want to get some chocolates and flowers for your lovely, I’m sure she wouldn’t be TOO upset. But who wouldn’t love an evening on the town listening to great music with their valentine? Be a hero! Take her to dinner afterwards! Save the chocolates for dessert.
