Sometimes you just need a good deli sandwich, know what I mean? Thinly sliced meat piled mile-high on a massive kaiser roll with a kick-ass crunchy pickle on the side . . . darnit, now I’m hungry. Good thing I don’t have to go very far to get a yummy sandwich! Downtown Westfield welcomed 8th Ave Deli this summer, and they’ve been serving up classic New York-style deli fare to hungry locals ever since.
Located in the space formerly occupied by Windmill, next to the Rialto movie theater, 8th Ave Deli was launched by John and Sofia Yu, who owned a successful deli on 8th Ave in Manhattan for more than 20 years. What’s on the menu, you ask? Sandwiches, of course, made with premium Boar’s Head meats, as well as burgers, hot dogs, burritos, salads, smoothies, and even Korean specialties. They also make great breakfasts like eggs with home fries and waffles, and check this out: you get a FREE coffee with any breakfast order! We all know how much I love freebies!
8th Ave Deli has tables for eating in, or you can get your grub to-go, and I just found out they DELIVER locally (908-233-2001). They’re conveniently open from 8 am to 8 pm Monday through Thursday, and from 8 am to 9 pm Friday and Saturday. So stop by and grab a sandwich whenever you get a hankering: 256 E. Broad Ave. (Note: You can also enter the deli through the back entrance in the municipal parking lot behind Starbucks.)
