I think we’re about done with this winter. Enough of the snow. Enough of the cold. Enough of the winds. Or . . . . . . .is it? How about some ENJOYABLE winds?
The Westfield Area Y is hosting a special concert featuring Majestic Winds, the professional wind band of the New Jersey Workshop for the Arts, to benefit the Westfield Area Y’s Strong Kids Campaign. This benefit concert will be held at the Bauer Branch of the Westfield Area Y, 422 East Broad Street on Thursday, February 6th, at 7:30 PM.
The ensemble, directed by Howard Toplansky, an NJWA staff instrumental music instructor and conductor, frequently plays area benefit concerts for various causes. At this concert, they will play Broadway selections, jazz solos, overtures, waltzes, marches and many contemporary compositions. There will genuinely be something for everyone’s tastes!
Admission is FREE, (don’t you just LOVE that four letter word?!), although donations are gratefully accepted. Funds raised at these concerts will benefit the Westfield Area Y Strong Kids Campaign. The Strong Kids Campaign ensures that no one who lives or works in the Westfield, Cranford, Garwood or Mountainside area, who is experiencing a sincere financial hardship, (due to unemployment, poor health, financial issues or other circumstances), is turned away from the Y for inability to pay. Howard Toplansky, Director of Majestic Winds, was quoted as saying, “The members of the Majestic Winds are looking forward to assisting in this worthy cause.”
