You do all the right things as a parent. You researched child safety seats before you purchased one. You read through all of the instructions before installing it into your car. You make sure your child is buckled in before taking off for anywhere. So your child is perfectly safe, right?
Not necessarily. Shockingly, it is estimated that 7 out of 10 children that ARE buckled into safety seats are actually NOT buckled in and secured properly or safely. That’s right . . . . 7 out of 10! So maybe it’s not so surprising that motor vehicle accidents are the #1 cause of death in children across the USA. And we thought we were all parents of the year! This is, clearly, NOT something to play around with. Despite the fact that you may think you’ve done a great job installing and adjusting your child’s car seat, it is really important to let the experts make sure of this for you.
Union County is now offering a FREE Child Safety Seat Inspection Program in our area. Parents, grandparents, babysitters, and, in fact, anyone who transports kids can make sure the child’s safety seat is properly installed by getting a free inspection. The inspections are conducted at the Garwood First Aid Squad, at 401 Second Avenue, every Wednesday and Thursday, from 7:70 – 11:30 AM. They are conducted by certified safety seat inspectors, who will gladly check out the seat and its installation for the safety of your child.
