Sweeney Todd at the CDC
It’s a juicy tale, all right!
Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, is opening at the CDC just in time for the Halloween season.
This acclaimed musical thriller by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler is full of suspense, horror, and chills. Definitely NOT your average upbeat musical! But if you like a musical with a little more meat on its bones, (or in its pies), then you will LOVE this production! Sweeney Todd tells the infamous tale of the wrongly exiled 19th century barber who returns to his London home to seek revenge against the judge who framed him and took his young wife. His revenge takes the form of murder among his barber shop customers, who, with the help of the demented proprietress of the pie shop downstairs, become the meat pies that become the rage among London customers.
The Cranford Dramatic Club has been an important facet of the town for 90 years, and offers some of the best community theater around. The newly updated and air conditioned facility is located at 78 Winans Avenue. Visit their website at CDCTheatre.org
