Fishing Derby Fun!
Attention all fishermen, fisherwomen, and fisherchildren!
If you are stumped trying to figure out what to do with dear old Dad for this Father’s Day, I’ve got something to “reel you in.” On Sunday, June 15th, right on Father’s Day, the annual Leonard Snyder Memorial Fishing Derby will take place at Nomahegan Park in Cranford.
The event, sponsored by the Cranford Jaycees, will take place from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with registration beginning at 10:00 AM. It is held in memory of Leonard Snyder, a Cranford dad who lost his life in the World Trade Center on 9/11.
Prizes for the children’s derby (open to ages 5-13) will be awarded in six different categories . . . . .
Boys under age 6, Boys ages 7-9, boys ages 10-13
Girls under age 6, girls ages 7-9, girls ages 10-13
Prizes will be brand new rods and reels. And there’s the added bonus of giveaways of bobbers and tubs of night crawlers for participants. OK – not MY idea of a treat, but if your into that kind of thing, then this might be just the thing for you and Dad or Grandpa!
In the case of those who love to fish, night crawlers trumps ugly new tie any day.
And in the case of just about every Dad or Grandad, time spent with the ones they love trumps all.
