So we’re about at the half-way point of summer. Are the kids driving you crazy yet? Could I have gotten the same answer if I had posed this question the first week of July? No matter how much outdoor time they spend, places they go with friends and family, activities they participate in, camps they go to, sports they play . . . . it’s inevitable. At some point you WILL hear . . . . “I’m bored! There’s nothing to do!”
Luckily, there’s something you can occupy them with, that won’t cost you a CENT. Thursdays are Teen Movie Days at the Cranford Public Library! Every Thursday at 2:00 PM, a different movie is featured. For August, the shows will be . . . . Aug. 1 – Bridge to Terabithia, Aug. 8 – Alice In Wonderland (2010), Aug. 15 – Get Smart, Aug. 22 – (no movie this day. Pizza Party instead!!), Aug. 29 – Tangled.
Movies not your teen’s thing? How about helping animals? On the Wednesdays of July 31, Aug 7, and Aug 21, at 2:00 PM, they can learn how to crochet simple blankets that will subsequently be sent to an animal shelter to comfort dogs and cats. C’mon, say it with me . . . . . “AW!”
And if your teen prefers something “meatier,” how about a murder mystery? MURDER MYSTERY! On Wed, Aug 21 , from 7 – 10 PM, they can attend a “whodunit.” They will have an opportunity to solve a mystery and decide who “killed” the victim! (This one DOES require advance registration.)
How cool is it that all of these activities, and quite a few more, are offered to residents free of charge? Your grumbling teen can grab some of his or her grumbling friends and grumble their way into an actual good time this summer!
