“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”
Well, Mr. Dickens, many of our community are having a tough go of “best of times” part. It’s no secret that these are tough times, chock full of lay-offs and job shortages. And people of all professions and financial brackets are affected. Many who are suddenly unemployed never imagined they’d find themselves in that position. It can be stressful to dealing with how to begin again.
The Presbyterian Church of Westfield, located at 140 Mountain Avenue, hosts a weekly “Searching for Work” group in the church’s Jim Cole Room. These sessions take place every Tuesday morning, from 9:00 – 11:00 AM, and is aimed at those searching for work. Membership to the group is open to anyone and everyone in the Westfield community. The group offers support in the work search process, and is a great opportunity for networking and the sharing of job search information. It’s a great way to “put yourself out there” and make yourself visible to potential employers, while gleaning support from others in the same situation. A little socialization mixed with earnest job searching . . . a double bonus. Plus, the added treat of enjoying a visit to a beautiful church built during the early part of the Civil War and dedicated in 1862.
Stop in any Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM and be welcomed!
