Cranford is full of nuts.
No, no . . . . I mean that in a good way!
Right here in town, at 125 Moen Street, is the warehouse for www.nuts.com , an AWESOME company featuring a huge assortment of nuts, seeds, flour, and other sometimes very-hard-to-find items. (Pathmark seldom carries “pistachio flour!)
Their website is amazing, (www.nuts.com), and well worth checking out. In addition to being very user-friendly, it is very clever and informative. Even cute at times.
This family business started back in 1929 as The Newark Nut Company, an open-air market selling dried fruits and nuts. In 1999, the company became NutsOnline, focusing on delivering their products to customers’ doorsteps. Their slogan? “We’re more than just nuts.” (I know a number of families and households who live by that very same slogan!) When Rachel Ray gave a shout-out to the company, and made the same mistake that others had been frequently making, referring to the company as “nuts.com,” they decided to officially change the name of the company. So, in 2012, www.nuts.com was born!
Despite the name change, the business is now led by third generation family members, with brothers, cousins, uncles, etc. working side by side, and is just as dedicated to quality and customer satisfaction as it has been all along. They buy directly from growers, so can fill personal orders or wholesale orders with similar ease. Their products are fresh and outstandingly delicious.
The family business is environmentally friendly. They use boxes made of recycled cardboard, and they sell a huge variety of organic products. They engage in community involvement, including the Big Brother Big Sister Program, and Junior Achievement. It’s kind of nice to see a family business that keeps the “family” along with the “business.”
Customers are welcome to the Cranford location to pick up orders, but it IS a warehouse and NOT a store, so don’t go in expecting to shop around. You need to visit the website in order to do that. And . . . trust me . . . . you’ll want to do just that!
