It’s a sad fact: in New Jersey, there were an estimated 25,000 people who were homeless or living in shelters last year. Of that number, nearly 1,700 of them are from Elizabeth and Union County homeless assistance programs. Practically right next door. Now there’s a way that you can help out some of those neighbors, while doing something you have to do anyway . . . . your hair.
On Sunday, October 19th, between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, The First Presbyterian Church of Cranford, in conjunction with The Guillotine Salon & Spa (best name ever for a place that does hair cuts!) at 108 Central Avenue in Westfield, have special services offered to help out the cause. The price list is: Woman’s Haircuts $30; Children’s Haircuts (ages 11 & under) $15; Men’s Haircut $20; Woman’s Haircut w/ Blow Dry -$40; Blow Dry – $25; Braids – $15; Manicure – $10; Shellac Gel Manicure – $25; Pedicure – $25; Microdermabrasion – $50; Chair Massage $10/10mins (10-12 noon only).
All proceeds will be donated to the homelessness, hunger, and poverty programs, which include Agape Community Kitchen, Elizabeth Coalition for the Homeless, Habitat for Humanity, Community Foodbank of NJ, Cranford Family Care, Furniture Assist, Elmora Soup Kitchen, Home First and FISH.
While walk-ins will be gladly welcomed, it’s not a bad idea to call ahead at (908)654-8686 for an appointment. Open your heart and cut your hair!
