Mission Fair at First Presbyterian Church in Cranford, NJ
One of the best characteristics of Cranford is the giving, caring nature of its residents. Neighbors are quick to help one another out, give rides to each other’s kids, and share kindness with one another whenever possible. But sometimes we all find ourselves in a position of wanting to give or do more, but without being sure how to go about it.
On Sunday, October 6th, from 11:30-1:00 Pm, First Presbyterian Church (FPC) of Cranford will hold a Mission Fair in Bates Hall, within the FPC building at 11 Springfield Avenue in Cranford. This event is open to anyone and everyone, NOT limited to parishoners of FPC, and it is a great opportunity to find out how you can help others, with or without money.
The Mission Team of FPC will be highlighting groups that they sponsor and work they do around the globe, but they will also be showcasing a variety of local outside organizations from Cranford and beyond that are supported by the congregation. Representatives are invited from: Agape Community Kitchen, Center for Hope Hospice, Community FoodBank of NJ, Contact We Care, Cranford-Elmora Soup Kitchen, Cranford Family Care, Cranford First Aid Squad, Cranford Clergy Council-(Human Relations Scholarship), Elizabeth Coalition for the Homeless, Elizabethport Presbyterian Center, FISH, Furniture Assist, Greater Plainfield Habitat for Humanity, HomeFirst, The Institute of Music for Children, Journey To Wholeness Grief Recovery, Knitting for Needs, PC USA Missions: Big Hearted Grannies (Romania) & Nadia Ayoub (Ukraine), Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Project Graduation Cranford, Project Protect, Raphael’s Life House and Restore Ministries. Also, PrimeTime, Helen K. Baldwin Nursery School, Girl Scout Troop 40362, Boy Scout Troop 80 & Pack 103.
This is such a great idea! It’s like a job fair of organizations that would welcome your contributions, of money, time, or talent. It doesn’t have to cost a thing to help out those who need it, but it can bring the giver unimaginable emotional wealth. This is a great way to shop around and see what local organization might be the best fit for you, and find a way to tap into what you’ve got to offer. The Mission Fair begins after worship service, which begins at 10:00 AM, on this Peacemaking Sunday. If you ARE interested in attending the service before the mission fair, the guest preacher will be Rev. Cheryl Galen, the new Transitional Leader for the Presbytery of Elizabeth. All are invited. And if you prefer to attend only the mission fair, that’s OK, too.

We ALL have something to give. Sometimes we just need help finding what that is, and where to give it.
