The Harvest Festival
Are you missing summer, and feeling kind of bummed about the chill in the air? Maybe a little perspective is needed. The 31st annual Harvest Festival will be celebrated on September 30, 2012, rain or shine, at the Trailside Nature and Science Center in Mountainside. Featured will be early American life through music, children’s crafts, games, demonstrations and displays, a petting zoo and much more. The Harvest Festival will take place, rain or shine. It’s a great way to usher in the Autumn season, have a little fun, appreciate what life was like in early America, and to remember the real reasons this season builds up to a day of Thanksgiving. It’s a wonderful learning opportunity for kids, and it is FREE!!! While there, be sure to visit the rest of the Trailside Center, and enjoy the many exhibits. Or maybe take a hike through the Watchung reservation, to enjoy the beginnings of the colorful foliage. The Trailside Center is located on the Watchung Reservation, on New Providence Road in Mountainside. It’s a wonderful resource right in our own backyard! Maybe you’ll walk away with a better appreciation for the change of seasons!
