There is NOTHING like the joy of antiquing! It is a relaxing, fun-filled quest to find treasures that are one of a kind and tell a story of people, places, and times past. And while “antiquing” often conjures up images of travelling to a small New England town in the crisp Autumn air, with a backdrop of colored leaves, there is nothing to say you can’t experience that very same joy right in your own home town, at ANY time of the year! Here are two places to explore close to home. (https://uniforumtz.com)
Dovetails, at 3 Eastman Street, (right next to Rockn’ Joe’s Café, by the town clock), is a store of great character! It offers an eclectic variety of antiques, gifts and accessories, including furniture, record albums, pottery, pictures, dishes , books, and so much more, in an ever-changing collection of treasures. An antique hunter could easily lose themselves in here, where there is something new (well, old, really) to be found in every nook and cranny of the store. They also conduct estate sales, moving sales, and tag sales, can assist in the liquidation of household goods , and in the sale of furniture, jewelry, art, and virtually anything else you can think of. They offer free consultations for most of these services. Check out their website at http://www.dovetailsusa.com/
Washington Rock Rare Coins, at 9 Walnut Avenue, in business since 1984, carries a large selection of collectible coins, antique clocks, train sets and antique jewelry. It buys and sells gold and silver coins and offers free in store appraisals. The small store can be deceiving from the outside, but inside it is packed to the hilt with interesting trinkets. Owner and proprietor Richard Nixon (yes, that is his real name!), also gives the fairest deal in the area when it comes to cashing in your old gold and silver jewelry. He is extremely friendly and personable, and very informative and helpful.
Bringing home a unique item is so much fun! And it is wonderful to give new life to an old treasure. See what you can find in these treasure troves right here in Cranford!
