Cranford PD Youth Academy registration ends Tuesday, 6/17, so hurry!!

So what will your kids be doing this summer?  Camp?  Sports academies?  Swimming dates?  Will you just consider yourself happy if they stay busy, stay happy, and don’t involve the police in their daily happenings?

Wait a minute – you might want to rethink that last part.

How about spending one week of their summer WITH the police department?

The Cranford Police Department is once again offering the annual Cranford Police Youth Academy this summer.  This program is open to any interested Cranford students graduating grades 7 or 8 this year.  The Academy will run Monday, July 7th through Friday, July 11^th, with daily classes from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  This marks the 8^th year of this worthwhile youth program.

The primary goal of the Cranford Police Youth Academy is to encourage open communication between the youth of Cranford and members of the Cranford Police Department, and to make these young people feel comfortable with the police force that serves their community.  The kids get the opportunity to see all aspects of the Cranford Police Department, and to learn about overall law enforcement. They will be offered demonstrations by a police K9 unit, a SWAT team, a water rescue team, to name just a few of the available experiences.  They will also be made familiar with basic criminal investigative procedures, police procedures, and basic first aid.  It’s a great way to pave the way for potential career options, and to have these young men and women feel more of a part of their community.  It’s a one week experience that can last a lifetime.
