In case you haven’t heard, the weather for Spring break is predicted to be . . . . un-Spring-like. If you had any designs on doing anything outdoors . . . better have a Plan B. The cold and the SNOW . . . that’s right, snow (blech!), is likely to keep you and the family indoors for at least part of the time. So why not put it to good use? This may be a great time to start that “Spring cleaning” that we all soooooooooo look forward to. Well, at least we can make some drawer space.
Hillside Avenue School, at Hillside and Centennial Avenue in Cranford, is preparing for its annual clothing drive on Saturday, April 20th, from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. They are looking for lightly used clothing, shoes, and home linens. For many of us, it’s a delight to get rid of the old stuff, the outdated stuff, and the stuff that doesn’t even fit the kids any more . . . . just not such a delight to actually BRING it anywhere. C’mon – we’ve all done it. Placed the bags n the car trunk with the intentions of dropping it off to a charity site, only to forget about it and drive around with it for months, until we need trunk space for something and it’s in the way. So now is the chance to drop it off practically in our own front yards. The school kids will delight in helping you take the bags out of your car for you as they do their worthwhile and educational community service. All they ask is that you please bag shoes, clothing, and linens separately. Then drive it over to the Hillside Avenue School parking lot, and you never even have to get out of your car! They’ll do the rest for you, and be very grateful to you in the process.
Spring cleaning doesn’t appeal to you? How about SPRING SHOPPING?! Because with all of that newly found drawer and closet space, now you’ll have room for some new things! And you will have helped out some needy folks in the process. And who doesn’t love a win-win situation like that?
