What would summer be without ice cream? Unthinkable! For Cranford residents, a trip to Dairy Queen is an easy fix for sudden ice cream cravings. So easy, and so well used, in fact, that we may not realize just how lucky we are. While we, as the ice cream blessed, may simply assume that every community has a Dairy Queen to depend on when dairy emergencies show themselves throughout the summer, the actual truth is that Dairy Queens are not all that abundant in NJ, and we are, in fact, very, very lucky to have one!
The Dairy Queen of Cranford has been at it’s North Avenue location for half a century, and still maintains that unmistakable, old-fashioned look, with the red roof and walk-up windows. It serves a variety of hard and soft ice cream, sundaes, banana splits, shakes, Blizzards, (YUMMMMM -Blizzards!), frozen beverages, ice cream bars, and ice cream cakes. It also serves hot dogs and hamburgers. It is a HAPPENIN’ place on hot summer evenings, after a soccer or baseball game, an end-of-school concert, or . . . . just about any time, really! Expect a line, but it is usually very fast moving. It is nothing short of miraculous in terms of how many staff members they seem to efficiently fit into that one small interior space. Their hours are Sunday through Thursday 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM, Friday and Satuday 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM, and they are located at 337 North Avenue. (Conveniently, right next to the Dunkin Donuts! Ice cream and coffee – whoopee!!) Visit the DQ website at www.dairyqueen.com . . . . . and keep a lookout for specialty days, when you can buy one Blizzard and get one for 99 cents, and assist The Children’s Miracle Network at the same time!
And when you are out and about, you can even find the nearest DQ on your iPhone with the DQ App! Who knew??
