So many of us use the weekends as our house-cleaning time. And so many of us HATE it. Especially when the Autumn weather is so lovely, and is calling us to be outdoors. Well, here’s a solution! You can clean up AND enjoy the company of friends, family, and neighbors this weekend . . . OUTDOORS. And because you’d be doing a good deed for your community and your Earth, no one could fault you for letting the housework go for a week.
The Cranford River Maintenance Committee will hold its annual Fall Rahway River cleanup this Saturday, October 19th from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. All Cranford residents are encouraged to help to clean up this important local resource. What a great way to teach kids about the importance of caring for our Earth . . . learning by example and by DOING! And not only do many hands make light work, but it can also be FUN!
There are several locations laid out for the cleanup: Kenilworth Boulevard, Riverside Drive (at end close to Kenilworth Boulevard), Mohawk Park, and Droescher’s Mill. Anyone and everyone is welcome, and gloves, bags, and other necessary cleanup equipment will be provided at those locations. It is requested that children under 12 be accompanied by an adult. All participants will receive a free T-shirt and water bottle as a thank you from the Clean Communities Committee, and the satisfaction of knowing that they were an integral part of the care and maintenance of the river and our community.
