            I guess you’d have to say that she’s really “cleaning up” with her soap!  OK, I’m sorry.  You don’t HAVE to say that.  But local Cranford resident Ingrid Chuleyn is having great success with her line of organic soaps!

            Chuleyn stated making her own soaps when her husband developed a skin condition.  Soon word got out, and a friend asked her if she could create a soap gift basket for a bridal shower gift.  Again, word got out, and before you know it, she was launching an online store dedicated to organic soaps and beauty products, Caseb Naturals , right from her Cranford home.

            Chuleyn comes by the soap-making industry honestly.  Before becoming a stay at home Mom, she was a  marketing executive at Celgene pharmaceutical company,  and has also worked as director of marketing at botanical ingredients firm Cepham in Piscataway. She is a current  member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, and she calls her current work “a blend of science and craft.”

            Chuleyn  often gets inspiration for her soap line from her Peruvian heritage.  Born in Peru and bred in NJ, much of the inspiration for the organic product line she creates takes inspiration from the home remedies and beauty treatments she grew up with. Hence, most of her products are natural and chemical free.  For example, one of her soaps contains fir needle extract, which she remembers using in a brew, rubbed onto the body for muscle aches, as a child.  Then there’s the exfoliater,  perfect for the feet, which contains Peruvian coffee bean and ground apricot kernels, a soap that contains thyme for a smooth face, and one with  peppermint, to give skin a healthy glow.  She starts with smaller batches of soap in her kitchen,  and then makes the larger batches in a rented facility.  Inventory is stored and shipped directly from her home.  So imagine how great her house smells!!! Sales are picking up, and a line of lotions is next on the planner.
