Don’t you just love hearing about big success stories in our area? I was beyond thrilled when one of my clients, Cranford resident Kristen Mider, shared the good news that her husband had just won a Pulitzer Prize! Now that’s something you don’t hear hear every day!!!
Zach Mider has been a reporter at Bloomberg News for nine years. According to Pulitzer.org, Zach received the 2015 for his “painstaking, clear and entertaining explanation of how so many U.S. corporations dodge taxes and why lawmakers and regulators have a hard time stopping them.” It’s heartening to know that Zach and his staff have not let the injustices of American conglomerates slip by unnoticed. For his exceptional work, Zach will receive a $10,000 cash award.
I asked Zach what’s next on his reporting agenda, and he replied, “Taking a break from taxes!”
A Harvard graduate, Zach got his start in journalism at a small newspaper in Manchester, Connecticut called “The Enquirer.” From there, he went on to report for Rhode Island’s “Providence Journal” before joining the Bloomberg team in 2006, where he writes features for the Bloomberg news service as well as for “Businessweek” and “Bloomberg Markets” magazines. Zach is the winner of Bloomberg’s First Pulitzer prize.
When he’s not in Manhattan writing hard-hitting news stories, Zach is chasing after twin five-year-olds and an almost-one-year old in their Cranford, NJ home. One of my favorite quotes from Zach is “My wife works harder than I do,” he said, “She is at home with three kids.” Smart man in so many ways!
