MamaMeelie Diaper Cakes, Decor and More
What kind of cake is your favorite? Chocolate fudge? Red velvet? Cannoli? Diaper?
Wait . . . WHAT?!
No, no . . . that’s not a typo. There IS, in fact, such a thing as a diaper cake, courtesy of local business MamaMeelie Diaper Cakes, Decor and More. And while that certainly does not sound appealing as a dessert, it is positively amazing as a centerpiece at a baby shower.
Camille Belczyk is a 27 years old Fanwood native, who moved to Cranford a few years ago with her husband. “We love it here, and think it’s the greatest town for raising our almost 10-month-old son,” Camille offers.
In her “previous life,” Camille worked in the corporate world. She left her job in corporate communications to become a stay-at-home mom. She explains, “Mommyhood is hands-down the toughest job I’ve ever had, and I felt like I needed a little creative outlet for myself to de-stress a bit!!!”
You know how it always seems to work out that ALL of your friends get married or have babies at the same time, and that you end up going to one shower after another? Well, that’s what Camille found herself doing. “With all the baby showers my friends and I have been attending and all the new babies we‘re having, moms-to-be just seemed like a natural market for me. So, I decided to try making and selling a diaper cake on Etsy.com. When I did sell one, I shared it on Facebook with friends and family. They gave me great reviews and wanted to see more. So, I saw an opportunity to make something larger out of my hobby, and that’s how MamaMeelie Diaper Cakes, Decor and More was born.”
So far, she has been specializing in diaper cakes and diaper creations (trains, animals, etc.) But she’s also done chocolate lollipops and cookies as baby shower favors, floral centerpieces, and invitations. A lot of the side projects are done to match the diaper cake/shower theme. There are plenty of photos on her FaceBook Page that exhibit her super-creative work.
Camille says, “I love working right here in Cranford, because it’s a wonderful suburb with easy access to New York City boroughs – where I’ve found it very easy to deliver and ship cakes to. That in itself allowed me to expand my customer base outside of just the neighborhood. Cranford is a wonderful community for small businesses and people are always around to meet and socialize with. It’s what drew us to move here in the first place. Great schools, kind neighbors and every time I look around, there’s another new, growing family moving into the town.”
Check out her work – I promise you you’ll be impressed! You can contact her via message on the Facebook page. And if you are hosting any kind of party, consider her for your décor. It’s sure to impress your guests!
Oh… and ALL of her cakes are CALORIE FREE!!!
