Halloween Parade
No, you do NOT have until October 31st to get your Halloween costume put together! This Sunday, October 28th, is the Brian Jenkins Memorial Halloween Parade, sponsored by The Cranford Recreation Department and The Cranford Jaycees. The parade is named in honor of Brian Jenkins, a lifelong resident and businessman of Cranford, who was, himself, a member of the Jaycees. So hurry up and get sewing, gluing, or painting, and get ready!
Gathering and registration begins at 1:00 at the Cranford Recreation Center parking lot. Donations for Cranford Family Care will also be accepted in the parking lot. Costume judging for various age categories, as well as for pull-floats, will take place at 1:30, and the actual parade begins at 2:00. And, of course, the highlight . . . . at 2:30, the annual “Pumpkin Chunkin’” will take place at the gazebo near the fire department. Nothing says Halloween like dropping pumpkins from a cherry picker and watching the pumpkin guts spray everywhere. It’s therapeutic, really. All pumpkins are being generously donated by Dreyer’s Farm. The awards will be given out immediately following the shaking off of gooey seeds.
