The Valentine’s Day candy that is left over is 75% off in the stores. That means it’s time to prepare for the next holiday. Enter – St. Patrick’s Day!
On Monday, March 10th, head to the Cranford Public Library, at 224 Walnut Avenue, to get into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit with some lovely traditional Irish music performed by McDermott’s Handy. The duo takes its name from the esteemed musician, Ed McDermott, a “fine fiddler” from Ballinamore, County Leitrim, in Ireland. McDermott’s Handy is the husband and wife duo of Dennis Gormley and Kathy DeAngelo, who have been performing traditional Irish music since 1979. But don’t be deceived by the fact that there are only two of them. Between these two musicians, , they play the Celtic harp, fiddle, flute, guitar, banjo, tin whistle, bouzouki, and bodhran—and, they sing, too!
Admission to the program is free, thanks to The Friends of the Cranford Public Library. What a fun way to usher in March! Wear your green, head over with friends and family, and let the upbeat traditional music turn on your “Irish,” regardless of WHAT your heritage is.
And, hey . . . . . stop and pick up some of that discount Valentine’s Day candy on your way!
