The 4th of July means sun, fun and fireworks.
For those of us living in New Jersey, here is a list of some of the best places to enjoy a fun-filled day of activities including the renowned Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks! When the sun goes down, you can cap off this mid-summer holiday by watching an awesome pyrotechnic display.
Just like last year, the Macy’s 4th of July 2012 fireworks display will be over the Hudson River. The best places to view this spectacular event are located on the Jersey side of the river with the Manhattan skyline in the background.
Waterfront Park and Hamilton Park in Weehawken offer prime viewing spots. There is a small playground in Waterfront Park where children can play as you await the festivities.
If you’re near Hoboken, head to Maxwell Park, Sinatra Drive or the area around 10th Street in North Hoboken.
Jersey Heights provides a bird’s eye view of the display too.
Riverview Park has a wonderful lake and playground.
Exchange Place offers an awe-inspiring view of the fireworks with the Statue of Liberty in the background.
Families will enjoy the small sandy beach, playground and picnic tables available in Maxwell Park.
Ross Dock in Englewood’s Palisades Park is a great place to spend the day until it’s time for the Macy’s 4th of July 2012 fireworks extravaganza.
If Macy’s fireworks isn’t in the cards for you this year, and you live in southern Jersey, head over to the Atlantic City boardwalk for one of the area’s must-see fireworks displays. The best viewing is from Boston Avenue to Metropolitan Avenue. Another place to enjoy the sun, beach and pyrotechnics is in Long Branch.The Jersey Shore is the backdrop for music, performances and food during Oceanfest. This daylong, cultural celebration of the nation’s birthday culminates with the spectacular fireworks finale. The Congress Hall Hotel in Cape May sponsors an old-fashioned summer picnic and fireworks show.
While these are the largest festivals and fireworks displays in the state, there are numerous other local events in each county you can check out too, including those in Westfield and Cranford.
