Free Summer Concert Series
Summer can be a very expensive time of year. The weather and long days inspire us to go out and do things, but, most times, “things” cost money! Well, here’s a way to enjoy the outdoors, soak up a little bit of the arts, spend some quality time with friends and family, and NOT spend a dime!
The Union County Summer Arts Festival Concert Series continues its traditional and popular summer of music this year, with a full line-up of music to accommodate all tastes. The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, led by Chairman Deborah P. Scanlon, invites the public to attend these free concerts in Echo Lake Park at the Westfield/Mountainside/Springfield juncture, and in Oak Ridge Park in Clark.
Families and friends are invited to come with blankets, chairs, picnics, and, of course, bug spray. Lounge in the park, under the stars, relishing the gift of summer outdoors, and listen to some wonderful music. Don’t feel like packing a picnic? You’re covered. There are vendors on sight.
While you’re there, stop by the Union County information van, which will be at the concert site with personnel from Rutgers Cooperative Extension, along with knowledgeable Union County staff to answer questions and offer information about interesting programs and recreational activities that are available to Union County residents. You might be surprised at all of the things available that you HAVEN’T taken advantage of. A real treasure trove for families on a budget.
The Summer Arts Festival concerts continue throughout July and August, on Wednesday evenings, with concerts beginning at 7:30 p.m.
