Cervantes of Spain
Wouldn’t a trip to sunny Spain sound wonderful right about now? Well, if that’s not in your budget, how about pretending a bit? There’s a place right nearby that offers a little bit of Spain right in Cranford.
Cervantes of Spain, conveniently located at 24 South Avenue East in Cranford, right across the street from the train station, serves authentic Spanish and Portuguese food. Stepping through the restaurant door is like stepping into a portal to Spain itself. The atmosphere is fantastic, and pleasantly subdued. It also offers beer, wine, sangria and cocktails during what is usually a very well-attended happy hour. Patrons can enjoy the main dining room, the bar lounge area, private party areas, and patio dining in warmer weather. Live music is provided every Wednesday and Thursday nights from 7:00 – 10:00 PM. (Wednesdays are Bossa Nova nights and Thursdays are Spanish guitar nights.)
Customers can enjoy spectacular Mediterranean style Spanish and Portuguese cuisine while enjoying classic artwork and Spanish Renaissance furnishings. The menu features classics, such as traditional paella Valencia, steaks and seafood. Don’t want to limit yourself to one dish? Then try out the diverse and eclectic “Tapas” menu, and have small portions of many things. The food is authentic and outstanding. Cervantes features a deep selection of Spanish wines, exotic cocktails and a Sangria Bar to complement the cuisine. The experience at Cervantes is unique and “romantico.”
Wonder how the place got its name? It was named in honor of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1547–1616), the Spanish novelist, dramatist, poet, and author of Don Quixote de la Mancha.
