The Westfield Area Y is pleased to announce they are hosting a special concert series featuring Majestic Winds, the professional wind band of the New Jersey Workshop for the Arts, under the direction of Howard Toplansky, a conductor and staff instrumental music instructor. Repertoire for these events normally include  Broadway selections, jazz solos, overtures, waltzes, marches, and contemporary compositions. The series will benefit the Westfield Area Y’s “Strong Kids Campaign.

The Westfield Area Y’s Strong Kids Campaign is dedicated to making sure that no one experiencing a bona fide financial hardship is turned away from services for inability to pay during difficult financial times.   The Y , which has been responding to the needs of individuals and families in Cranford, Garwood, Mountainside,  and Westfield since 1923, uses the Strong Kids Campaign to provide approximately $300,000 in direct financial assistance to nearly 300 individuals in need every year. The majority of assistance is provided to enable children to attend our full day child care, school age child care, and summer day camp programs, and the remaining amount supports membership and program participation.

This Holiday Concert, the first in the concert series, is to be held at the Bauer Branch of the Westfield Area Y at 422 East Broad Street, on December 5^th, from 7:30 – 9:00 PM.  A $12 donation is requested to help this worthwhile cause.
