Sunday, October 27th is a day chock-full of Halloween fun in Westfield! Don your costumes a few days before it is actually Halloween, and come out to show some spooky spirit!
The Downtown Trick or Treat , sponsored by Downtown Westfield Corporation, takes place from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, and offers a daylight-safe trick-or-treat environment for little ones. It will be immediately followed by a costume contest for children from pre-school through elementary grades, held on Quimby Street, at 2:00 PM, and a parade, (rain or shine), sponsored in part by The Optimist Club of Westfield, at 2:30 PM. The parade route heads down Quimby Street, to North and Prospect Streets, to East Broad Street, Elm, and then back to Quimby.
After the parade fun, or instead of it, if you’re not a parade kind of family, take the kids to the Miller Cory Museum where kids will enjoy an afternoon of Halloween activities like spooky stories, games, crafts, and cupcake decorating from 1:30 to 4:00 PM. See their FB Page ( Miller Cory House Museum FaceBook Page for more updates. Visitors are encouraged to come in costume. You will need to register ahead of time, so visit the website at Miller Cory House, or call (908)232-1776 by Thursday!
Remember that neighbor who had to show everyone up by carving the entire NYC with skyline with detail into their pumpkin back on October 1st? Well, while that piece of gourd art is in decay by this time, you can pick up a fresh, beautiful pumpkin, just in time for Halloween, at Williams Nursery & Gift House. And Sunday is the final day for their pony rides, hay rides, and pumpkin fun weekends. To learn more call (908)232-4076, or visit Williams Nursery On your way home from all of the festivities, don’t forget to stop and buy your candy for Thursday’s trick-or-treaters! Because Sunday’s spooky spirit-fest is only the precursor to Halloween! And since Halloween has been interrupted for the last two years . . . once for an ice storm, and once for Superstorm Sandy, we are due for more than one day of Halloween celebrating, don’t you think? We’ve got some terror-time to make up!
