Here in New Jersey, there is a growing awareness of the social, economic, environmental benefits of recycling.

Here are some great recycling ideas:

 

• Stop using plastic and paper grocery bags. There are many inexpensive alternatives available. You can purchase reusable grocery bags, or even make your own from old t shirts!
• Use reusable coffee mugs instead of disposable ones, especially in the workplace.
• Use cloth napkins, towels and cleaning rags instead of paper napkins and paper towels.
• Donate old magazines, newspapers, cell phones and eyeglasses to charitable organizations, schools and community groups.

• If you have leftover paint, consider donating it to community groups, schools, theater groups or charities. You may even get a tax deduction! These are just a few ways you can recycle in New Jersey and the benefits are amazing. These simple steps can help to preserve our natural resources for future generations, cut down on the amount of energy used, lower greenhouse gas emissions and reduce the need for landfills. (VERY important in the NJ Area!).  Recycled items provide raw materials for many “new” items, and there is a growing demand from consumers for products made from recycled items. Through recycling, jobs are created, social awareness is increased, and the environment is preserved. I’d call that a win-win for everyone!
