Have you seen them? The signs around Cranford, asking “Have You Got Your Ducky?” Did they confuse you? Make you wonder what it’s about? Feel violated for being asked such a personal question? Well, save the date! October 7, 2012 – a day of fun for everyone in the family!!! It’s time for the Cranford Pedal Paddle, complete with a rubber ducky race!
The day begins at 9:00 AM with a family bike ride through town, which is sponsored by Bike 4 ALS. The ride leaves from Mayor’s Park in downtown Cranford, and goes to Nomahegan Park, and then proceeds on to Mohawk park, with water stops along the way. Families are invited to do as much of the ride as they can or want, and to enjoy the fall foliage as they ride through town.
At 12:30, join or watch the canoe races, with prizes for the top rowers in each category. Then, at 2:00, there will be a host of family activities available at Sperry Park.
And then it’s time for the grand finale . . . .. the second annual rubber ducky race!!!! (Sponsored by Hanson Park Conservatory and Cranford Parks and Recreation Department) Ducks are $5.00 each, and can be purchased at the Cranford Canoe Club, Joanie’s Café, Periwinkle’s Fine Gifts, and Back to Nature shops. Get them now before they sell out, because you don’t want to miss out on this silly and fun activity! There’s nothing like watching a fleet of rubber ducks float downstream! Who couldn’t use a chuckle like that? And the winning ducks are awarded some pretty great prizes . . . 3rd prize is a $100 Cranford Downtown gift certificate, 2nd prize is a $150 Canoe Club Adventure day, and first prize is a whopping $250 Cranford Downtown gift certificate!
