The Evening of Tango Folk Music at First Friday

            Grab your partner, stick a rose in your mouth, and get ready to tango!

Once a month, locals have the opportunity to enjoy an intimate live concert event, featuring a wide diversity of music genres and artists, at the Galeria West Art & Music Gallery, located at 111 Quimby Street in downtown Westfield NJ. This popular monthly concert event,  offered by First Friday @ Galeria West Music Series, presented by Teatro Si , continues on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 7:00 PM, with an evening with the acclaimed “Yas Cortes Duo.”  They are best known for their unique Boleros, Flamenco, and South American Folklore and Tango fusion sounds.

The Yas Cortes Duo is comprised of husband and wife guitarists and vocalists Maria Cortes and Oscar Yas.  They originally hail from Argentina, where they have won several prestigious music and vocal competitions. Aside from founding and performing in a number of various vocal ensembles, they have also had the prestigious honor of performing in the great concert halls throughout North and South America and Europe.  Locally, they have performed at Carnegie Hall, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5bzALJJv0Q&feature=relmfu , St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC, Giants Stadium, NJPAC, Trump Taj Mahal, Caesar’s Palace, and with Teatro Sí. The Yas Cortes Duo has shared the stage with numerous renowned artists , including Carlos Santana and Julio Iglesias, and many, many more. They are thrilled to be having an encore concert presentation at the First Friday @ Galeria West Music Series.  

And while you are enjoying the concert, you can also enjoy all that the Galleria West art gallery has to offer visually.  The gallery displays and sells the work of many fine painters, and they also do outstanding framing work.  Owner Gerardo Verdugo offers an extensive selection of framing materials, and employs the latest equipment and techniques. He is happy to make suggestions and assist customers with all of their framing needs, big or small.

 First Friday @ Galleria West concert tickets are $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children.
