It’s one of the most awesome times of year in Cranford! One that brings a smile to the face of everyone who walks or drives through the center of town. It’s time for the annual Scarecrow Stroll.
This very popular event, with more than 100 scarecrows on display, draws visitors from far and wide. The scope of talent and creativity is nothing short of amazing.
This year’s Scarecrow Stroll will run Oct. 23 through Oct. 31. The deadline to register for a scarecrow is October 4th. This is the second year, individual non-Cranford residents are also invited to participate. Businesses, clubs, and organizations that enter, however, still must be Cranford based. It is so much fun to walk through beautiful downtown Cranford and admire the creativity of local boy and girl scouts, clubs, business owners, and residents. They may not do much to actually scare crows, but they certainly brighten up the neighborhood each Fall!
The Scarecrow Stroll is organized by the Downtown Office of Business & Economic Development, and it is a fabulously fun way to bring the community and local businesses together. The scarecrows hang on display on every downtown street to encourage walking and a chance to discover stores and restaurants, while bringing smiles and laughter to all who pass.
For more information, or to register for a scarecrow, contact the Downtown Office at 908-709-7208, or www.facebook.com/scarecrowstroll to see past entrants.
It’s really the only time we can all enjoy being surrounded by people who have a stick up their . . . well, you know.
