When I introduce people to the town of Cranford, they are always struck by the HOMETOWN feeling it gives them. They often mention an appreciation for a community that seems to preserve its’ simpler past, while offering so many conveniences of today’s modern times. One artist in particular has been drawn to the beauty of Cranford: Lloyd Garrison. Lloyd’s paintings of Cranford scenes capture the very essence of what people love about this town!
Artist Lloyd Garrison Captures the Beauty Of Cranford, NJ
almost 50 years. I was blown away to learn that he was mostly self-
taught! His extensive portfolio shows how multitalented
he is. Lloyd has painted murals; a series of Christmas plates;
traditional oil paintings; and even provided artwork for commercial
advertising campaigns.
Lloyd was fortunate never to be pigeonholed as an artist of one subject matter. He is known for
his holiday-themed work, but he has also depicted many scenes
from historical battles, such as his painting of George Washington and his troops crossing the
Delaware River, which hangs today in the Washington Crossing State Park Museum.
Lloyd says: “I like to tell stories through my paintings.” I would have to agree that each of his
paintings tells a story, including his beautiful portrait of the Cranford Canoe Club, snow-covered
and decorated for the season. It is so quintessential small-town holidays—you can almost hear
the owner of the Canoe Club calling you in to share stories and a laugh. I love this painting so
much, I chose to use it as my holiday mailing sent to thousands of houses in Cranford!
Lloyd is available for commissions and can be reached at 609-918-1776. You can view more of
his artwork—and order holiday cards featuring his artwork—at www.lloydgarrison.com.
You can also purchase prints of his work at our very own Cougar Headquarters on Centennial
Ave.
Cranford sure is lucky that it caught Lloyd Garrison’s eye! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
